Burnout recovery is not about pushing harder. It is about learning to listen to your body, regulate your nervous system, and rebuild your energy from within.
Like many high-performing women, I lived for years in a state of constant doing; working, achieving, and carrying more than my body could sustain.
This is my story of how everything changed when I stopped performing and started listening.
What Burnout Really Feels Like
Burnout is not just feeling tired. It is a state where your nervous system is overwhelmed and stuck in survival mode.
For me, it showed up as insomnia, anxiety, physical symptoms, and a deep sense that I had lost control over my own body.
My body was no longer something I could rely on. It became something I feared.
The Turning Point – Gentle Yoga and Nervous System Regulation
Everything changed when I stopped trying to fix myself through effort and started supporting my nervous system instead.
Gentle yoga became my first step toward recovery. Not intense workouts, but slow movement, breath, and safety.
For the first time in a long time, I felt a sense of calm and safety in my body.
Why Pushing Harder Doesn’t Work in Burnout Recovery
One of the biggest misconceptions about recovery is that you need to do more.
But when your nervous system is already overloaded, more stress, even in the form of exercise can delay healing.
If this resonates, you might also relate to the pressure of always trying to be better or do more. You can read more about that here:

The key is not intensity but consistency, safety, and listening.
From Survival to Balance
Today, my life looks very different.
I still practice yoga but not to perform. I practice to stay connected, grounded, and balanced.
And now, I guide others on the same path from burnout to balance.
